Consequences of PM Cycle

Here's another awful thing in plasma combat: wear and tear. At times the player will raise this value for his EE Suit, similar to his growing Insanity. At least this one can be fixed.

Pinned x2 – Causes the addition of a point to the necessity of a PM Cycle. Test for Suit Fracture on an Ordinary roll to avoid vicious wound.

Consequences of PM Cycle
As the player character delays his refurbishment and periodic upgrades to his EE Suit, he will slowly deteriorate. Combat tends to knock the character around, as most of the time he’s using his field kit incorrectly. Nope, your tech-ninja won’t keep you fit forever; damage will exceed his ability and he’ll schedule you for Preventive Maintenance. That’s basically an ugly time of test, certification and possible return to an irrational baseline. They also remove all your war trophies and sponsor decals. Worse for game terms, you’re going to lose some swagger.

At the start of each adventure, the player will roll for his readiness.

PM Cycle Game Penalties (PM + D8)
1: Do not use the Fury Pip as a modifier in the entirety of Phase B on the adventure.
2: Do not use the 3D8 Advantage for Tin-Head Swaggering in the entirety of Phase B on the adventure. You will not gain Tin-Head techniques in Phase B.
3: Do not use the 3D8 Advantage for Savvy Swaggering in the entirety of Phase B on the adventure. You will not gain Savvy techniques in Phase B.
4: Do not use the 3D8 Advantage for EE Suit Swaggering in the entirety of Phase B on the adventure. You will not gain EE Suit techniques in Phase B.
5: Do not use the 3D8 Advantage for Ship Swaggering in the entirety of Phase B on the adventure. You will not gain Ship techniques in Phase B.
6: Heal the Negative Trait (A) of you growing insanity. However, you will not gain any swaggering techniques in Phase B.
7: Lose half your make-rolls at the start of the adventure. Also, you will not gain any swaggering techniques in Phase B.

51+: Time’s up; you will perform Preventive Maintenance in the next downtime between adventures. You will roll on the TJ Boys Table that you’ve been fearing. You will do so and like it. Also, you will not gain any swaggering techniques in the adventure.

Okay, Okay I’ll go (to TJ Boys for Maintenance)
During Downtime, any player may say he gets his EE Suit refurbished. Set his PM Cycle value back to zero.

This is a nice chance to see the uniform polished and parade ready. You look sharp, and you feel proud; you then notice that there’s been a software upgrade, and your combat features have been reconfigured. What’s that LED indicate? Is that new car smell or has something shorted-out? Where’s my coffee dispenser? No, they called it contraband?!?

Like a bad haircut, you’re going to have to live with this configuration for a while as you get back to the style where you’re most comfortable. Any swaggering locked at Glorious is exempt from loss. Cimmer add one to the roll. Skia subtract one from the roll.

PM Cycle (2D8)
2 or less: “Put back in wrong race configuration.” Lose all EE Suit, Savvy and Tin-Head swaggering.
3: “Child Safety locks installed.” Lose all your EE Suit and Tin-Head swaggering.

8: “Factory standard retail model.” Lose one Tin-Head swaggering of your choice.
9: “Walker Industries, only the best for our Boys.” Lose one swaggering of your choice.
10: “Subject to safety recall.” Lose one EE Suit swaggering of your choice.
11: “Diagnostic lights left on.” Lose one EE Suit and one Tin-head swaggering of your choice.
12: “Tech just got divorced.” Lose one EE Suit and Savvy swaggering of your choice.
13: “Budget cuts, recycle parts.” Lose all your Savvy swaggering.
14: “Encrypted user manual.” Lose all your Tin-Head swaggering.
15: “Voluntold for Betatest.” Lose all your Savvy and Tin-Head swaggering.
16+: “Retrofit into obsolete model.” Lose all your EE Suit and Savvy swaggering.

Note: Skip the starting PM Cycle roll; for the next adventure, you start off sort of clean. Just like when you were an FNG on his first drop. Memories.
