Wasn't the Danger of D&D a feature not a bug?

Message:

Not to put too fine a point on it but D&D got a lot of help in the early days from that dude who got lost in the steam tunnels?

I remember it clearly because I read it on my 9900 baud bulletin board system and thought my parents were crazy for worrying about such nonsense.

BTW, if anyone finds my homework from that Calculus class I missed in college in the steam tunnels under the University, could you forward them to me.

Point 2: I don't believe anything I read, see, hear, or even say on the Internetz.

Point 3: It would be nice to have a way to have a certified identity on the Internet in some things. (Try to get your D&D On-Line account reset without a fax and a copy of your driver's license ... what's up with that?) The reverse of the coin is that soon everything would require it. (I don't want to let people I know I bought 4th edition. Even I have standards.)

Yours,

   Steam Tunnel Conrad
