All roles are designed to be asexual of either gender. As an American author, I push violence, not titillation. There will be no love interest, nor hardly any mutual respect, among the ten main suspects.
Additional players will be added as henchmen to assist the main characters. Any main character death will put the player with the option to watch (at minimum interaction) or accept the role of a sidekick to another player. Any of his sidekicks will also move to someone else.

Secretly you have been living at the manor. You fell on hard times, in and out of rehab for opiates, and came begging to your uncle for security. Uncle Earl told you to get lost; that your father, his brother, had a weak soul. He keeps finding you on the grounds and telling you to leave, threatening to call the sheriff. But Uncle Earl does not seem like the law and order type; he is hiding something. You know he restored rape rooms below the basement level, but you have not found a way to check on his actions. If you just had something over him, maybe he would cut off a corner of the estate, build you a bungalow and let you grow pot in peace. Related on father’s side; your father Benedict was older brother of the dead man, Earl. You have five other siblings, but have not stayed in touch with them, because they had different mothers. You probably are meeting all your relatives for the first time. You work sporadically out of a Starbucks and make an unstable living from the world wide web.

You are not whom you claim to be. You are a felon, Alex Shotz, who sold Uncle Earl plenty of stuff that you smuggled into the country, some from Central America, some from Asia. You thought it all was drugs. You were always taking trips paid for by Earl. Yet he refused to meet you personally. All your deals were over the internet, through the dark web. Earl devised a blind drop system, where you would leave merchandise of dubious nature on a jetty below the manor. If Earl liked what your brought, you’d find payment there a week or month later. You didn’t always care for the arrangement, but you gamble (and lose). You met Charlie, trying to get more intel on Earl. But all you learned was that Charlie’s father, Benedict, was Earl’s older brother. Yet in a lucky break, none of these people have truly met. Lots of different mothers; most of the family are internet geeks who live as agoraphobes. So, when Charlie mentioned that Earl wanted all his kin to come to the estate and have some sort of competition to see who gets half a billion dollars, well…Charlie met w/ an accident. You might have done the old man Earl as well, but someone beat you to it.

You cannot tell the truth at anytime when asked a question. Make up plausible tales, pretend to be anyone or have had any skill. For instance, say you’re an undercover agent of the Alabama DEA or a black op NASA tachyon cop. Just suggestions. You may not tell the other players that you can’t stop lying. They must reason that on their own. The only truth you may reveal is that you are not the killer. You are not the killer. But will anyone believe you. You may not tell the other players that you may only tell the truth about not being the killer. Have fun; try to stay alive by not being too annoying. Here’s some other things which are true, but you will lie about: Related on father’s side; your father Benedict was older brother of the dead man, Earl. You have five other siblings, but have not stayed in touch with them, because they had different mothers. You probably are meeting all your relatives for the first time. You work from home and make your living on the web. This trip is your first out of state in some time.
Social Media Star: Devious, Unflinching, Vengeful
Everyone said you were special. You remember Uncle Earl fondly; he watched Porky Pig cartoons w/ you. You seem to be the only one fazed and sad for his death. You’re the only normal one of the family. That’s why you are a star or will be an even bigger one soon. People like you. You’re funny, unblemished, photogenic and not ashamed to leak scandalous video to titillate the public. You stand up for yourself. You don’t ignore the trolls; you savage them. In game terms you gain PLUS ONE to all dice rolls. Related on father’s side; your father Benedict was older brother of the dead man, Earl. You have five other siblings, but have not stayed in touch with them, because they had different mothers. You probably are meeting all your relatives for the first time. You work from home and make your living on the web. This trip is your first out of state in some time.
Secret Service: Devious, Unflinching, Zealot
Your bio lists you as a Pro Gamer, but in fact you are United States Secret Service, Agent Weald, who investigates fraud and human trafficking. You may reveal this at any time; however, the killer may make you the next victim. You are posing as Sage Edwards, who is in Federal custody on various charges. To make matters worse, your weapon in your ankle holster is found to be empty. That may be on you, since your drinking has been out of control of late. The real Sage is related to the deceased on his father’s side; Benedict was the older brother of the dead man, Earl. Sage has five siblings, but you know nothing about them. Fake it until you find some allies. Penalty: your character may not have any minions. If you die, Johnny Law is gone from the game. With any luck, the weapon used to kill Uncle Earl has the same caliber bullet. Do you feel lucky, punk?

You are not who you pretend to be. You are a prim insurance investigator, Dr. Jones, representing the Met. A piece of the antiquities collection was stolen. The thieves were all caught, but not the piece—a ten-pound marble of the Phoenician Sea God Ba’al. The work was reportedly sold to “Uncle Earl.” Arrow Edwards was arrested on unrelated NYC drug charges, and you became involved when Arrow suggested Earl was a bit of a “pervy collector.” By arrangement, you came to the estate pretending to be Arrow to see if you can discover any evidence of other crimes for purposes of obtaining a warrant. Else, maybe you’ll get lucky, and the work of art will be right out in the open. These rich fucks are that bold. But now you have a murder, so do you reveal you’re a private investigator, law enforcement? You are not armed (yet). Better to keep up appearances for now. For your background, you know the family is not close. Arrow’s father Benedict was older brother of the dead man, Earl. There are five other siblings by different mothers, but none stayed in touch, according to Arrow. When you meet your relatives, well, they are a bunch of bozos. Most work from home and make barely a living via the web. They seem to be more interested in who now gets what then who you are? Probate can sort out the will; there’s a finder’s fee for you if the dull old stone is recovered.
Disabled Grognard: Unflinching, Vengeful, Zealot
You are not who you pretend to be. Your real name is Rendell Paulson. You knew Shiloh as a fellow Med-Tech in the first Gulf War. Shiloh mentioned a rich uncle, and you both planned to reach out to Earl after the war. Maybe moneybags could buy you both an ambulance, so together you could freelance. Shiloh died to an IED. You returned w/ PTS and sought out Uncle Earl. You were rebuffed; not as an outsider, since Earl thought you were Shiloh asking for the handout. You did not correct his mistake. You found your hotel room paid for anonymously, so you hung around. The locals had nothing but bad things to say about Earl, his wickedness and debauchery. You planned to blackmail him, but he laughed in your face. He splashed you with an exotic orange oil that left you unable to truly focus, even after years of therapy. You tried to go to the cops, warn the community, but you were discounted as a lunatic. Now your teeth have all fallen out, and you see your legs slowly wither w/ lesions. You use a wheelchair and only can walk short distances. Earl owes you, so you answered the call again as Shiloh. You knew Shiloh was an orphan, both parents killed. You were glad to see that none of the relatives know each other. You do wonder if you may have shot Earl, but you don’t recall doing so. You also don’t own a pistol. At least, you don’t think that you do.
Anti-Vaxxer: Avant Garde, Unflinching, Zealot
Related on father’s side; your father Gene was a younger brother of the dead man, Earl. You have two other siblings but have not stayed in touch with either of them, because all of you were separated as orphans. Both parents were killed in a car accident, when you were an infant. You probably are meeting all your relatives for the first time. You work from home and make your living on the web. This trip is your first out of state in some time. You hide a secret. You have been to the manor before. You came here following a mishap at a commune. Your Uncle took you in as a gardener, and you shared an interest in hallucinogenic herbs. His study contains many volumes on plants, details on natural medicines and poisons. You left your Uncle six years ago, fleeing his bohemian lifestyle. Uncle Earl became amorous. Even when you told him finally who you were, a niece (nephew), he wanted obedience and special attentions, which you were not prepared to share.

You are not who you pretend to be. Your name is Chrys Duggs. You and your sister were party people, until one night Uncle Earl drugged her, hurt her and left her so whacked on a designer drug that she never came out of her coma. She died a couple years ago. You tried to rally city hall; get the police to take action, but Earl donated too much to local judgeship campaigns. You set to defaming and exposing Earl on the internet, but no one truly listens. Then you recruited one of his relatives, Jules Patrick, to help spread the word. Seduced and raped by Uncle Earl as a teenager, Jules added tacit details to lurid accusations. As the smear campaign was gaining momentum, Jules accepted a significant amount of hush money and signed a nondisclosure. With Jules retired to warm beaches, you continued the attacks and pretend to be Jules online. But the public has moved on to other scandals. Yet when Uncle Earl reached out to his kin, you still received the emails of Jules. When you determined that he did not in fact know Jules, that third party lawyers handled all the previous details, you took a risk and posed openly as Jules. You just wanted to meet Earl, make him face the pain he caused you and your sister. Now he’s dead. Is it over? Was that enough? In case anyone asks, Jules’ father Gene was a younger brother of the dead man, Earl. Jules has two other siblings but has not stayed in touch with either. All were separated as orphans, when both parents were killed in a car accident. bastard Earl wouldn’t even help his own flesh and blood. Better though to get out of here first chance. Pretending to be someone at a murder is a good way to be arrested.
Web Hoaxer: Avant Garde, Unflinching, Vengeful
You are not who you pretend to be. Your father was a biochemist, part of a delegation, which came to visit the financier Earl at his estate. Your father’s goal was to get investment for a pharmaceutical company in Armenia. But your father never returned home. He abruptly stopped calling; he disappeared. Now you have come to the manor to confront Earl and find out what happened to your father. However, upon arrival you found yourself among a group of strangers, all having the assumption that you are the long lost Murphy. They all call you Channing, so you didn’t correct them. Now it appears to be too late to come clean. If you confess to being someone else, that would look very suspicious. Earl is dead; someone killed him. You also still have no idea what happened to your father. You continue in the white lie, hoping to find answers and then leave after the storm breaks. The others have told you that all they know of Channing Murphy is a mother’s name, Abigail, and that Earl’s sister was much older. Since everyone here seems to have no job, you also pretended not to be gainfully employed. To them you are another Web Designer, trying to get a piece of Earl’s pie. You want none of it, only closure. But somehow Earl’s death does bring a smile to your face. But will that leave you with an eternal mystery?
