Interesting, but


I like the concept, but that was Battle Born and Barony. The Bad Guy would get hit and hit and hit with a variety of wounds before dying. If I could integrate a "Frustration Rating" into the mix, that would be very interesting. But as you said in your opening line, the end result is "We kill it," not "we want to send a message (other than we kill can kill it)"

Your analysis is spot on. Every time you get Shaken it will slowly turn your character "off."

Why? Because with eight levels, and this being an RPG, you need to have a very complicated system to do what the players essentially won't.

And that is? Self govern.

By my analysis I've been Shaken perhaps ten times. I would barely be Tetchy.
