Message:I'm pretty sure I can learn a new program language and make it crazy deep in What-Ifs.
However, the Discord server seems to be a shared exchange, not a server with a folder to pull from. What I really want is a means for a player to hit one button "Do Stuff" and depending upon where he is at as a pointer, the result will be Display Image and Display result text. Overlay a dice roll graphic to show things were fair. A nice start to judge potential on many levels.
Was rather easy in 2003.
As soon as any game program has this, it has my attention.
Seems Discord can accept a user message (text, I assume) and then generate an automatic reply. Replace an active moderator for BANNING USER.
Excuse harsh tone to make a point. The bot can parse looking for "F$G F$G!!!!!!" But can it find without an explicit hunt a string like FuK-EWE. As it happens now it can, as a programmer spends his life checking chat logs and making choices (as Facebok and Twipper now must). Finding vulgar letter strings is necessary when teens might be online. Lawsuits and such. Blame the content users when Discord is used to plot insurrection. It's a Libertarian nightmare that Mainland Chinese just switches off. Freedom is what State offers or Service Provider?
So player types (or speaks slowly) LOOK and your reply SEE BIRD. Wait, for CATCH BIRD. I don't think the time invested writing a Zork would be meaningful.
Would a dedicated Discord channel (guild) of chat about Better Games be great? Sure, we also have one here and under every video I posted; neither acquired any multitude of interest. Thanks for spreading the word, regardless.
How many Discord Guilds are already out there? Forty million. It's a sea of content about two feet deep. Another new one would not attract any fresh followers. I'd rather have a lake, like Weds evening gaming. A few users and content that will never be exhausted.
Having a welcome bot to say, "Yourrrr Greatttttttt" is cool only to those who never heard of Tony da Tiger. Discord should hire someone to write content and gaming bots. It has opened the pandora box of mischief karaoke (read as craptacular content with a smear of destruction to a person's HD).
Instead of learning a new code language, my time is better spent following other amusement.
