The One dude dies and pop .. a new guy appears and we scavenge the body of the deceased was strange.
Character dies and Charter Mark 2 appears minimizes "Death of Character".
If the character died from the ring, it should reduce the corruption of others.
If the character dies from mobs, then it should advance the phase of the story.
Other options like Lost, Captured, or Injured should be options to give variety.
A minor quibble ... just something for the notes.
(This could work as a repeat game chasing down all the little bits to find the recipe for how to destroy the ring. We know how the ring was found but that could be a Quest. And, there are all sorts of Eagles, loose Wizards, Bad Guys and Armies which are quests in their own.)
