Message:Well, the mechancis are horrible, but the game system is not a good simulation of a horror experience.
I would coin the term Rape-Play to describe every CoC experience. The players get a role. Along the way they get an extra asshole added, then each dies. Best as a two player experience.
Am I wrong?
Are anime games Call of Cthulhu? Or has CoC become horror generic. I once would call and ask friends if they wanted to play DnD today? (1970s) They all would then ask, "What are we playing?" because the answer was hardly ever Gygax White Box. It was Boot Hill, Traveler, In the Labyrinth, and a whole lot of Monsters, Monsters and EPT. It could also be wargames like Divine Right or Grand Imperialism. DnD was just our Coke. A burger, fries and coke. No coke, Pepsi. Whatever.
Someone please tell me and defend the claim that Chaosium has merits. Otherwise, stop pouring shite in the trashcan fire with posts of how popular it is. An appear to the masses is flawed logic. Popularity is not truth.
People like horror. I understand. Why run CoC? Defend your passion, geeks!
Yours,
IronRed
