Message:Plenty of trouble trying to roll a D6 and adding one in Roll20.
Here’s a dump of what I ran. See the YouTube video for my graphics. Also, any historic roleplay needs to be run with wiki open on players side. Or just enjoy the ride.
Quantum Thievery
Metatron sends you a dime store novel. You are to hunt and find a relic:
Jesse James Pistol: The Colt .45 Peacemaker 44 caliber bullets, which did much more damage. And by the time of Jesse's bank robberies in the early 1870s, the weapon of choice was the Colt .45-caliber Peacemaker, which combined the bullet, gunpowder, and percussion cap in one cartridge and was therefore much easier to reload. Wild Bill Hickok carried a Colt .36-caliber, six-shot, 1851 Navy revolver. Its smoothness of operation, terrific balance and natural aiming quality were never equaled in its time.
But first a question: Is there a God?
Yes -- okay, continue.
No -- lose Destined; may be regained by DICE display of Trickery & Obstacle (by anyone).
Mission from Metatron: Recover Jesse Jame's Pistol. The revolver is lost somewhere in the Roman Era, possibly in the Arena as a showpiece, fired into the air before the first match and main event.
When you are ready, say the Command Safeword -- Geronimo!
Find selves landing among Venatores and Bestiarii in an arena fighting Oxen, Lions, Hippo, Bear and Tigers, oh my. First question: is this Flavian Amphitheatre? Not built yet. This is just a small arena in forum of Rome. Fight enough animals to make things interesting. The beasts are released in sets.
Grab a Trident as a Relic that can be energized and allow a Mulligan in another time period. See something strange; history is leaving you clues.
Rosebud will become important. Someone gets finger pricked and has a flash on a battle with smoking rifle fire.
Convince the NPC Soak-Off Spartacus to join you with Trickery.
Prepare Ye for the Second Question: Is the nature of God, omnipotent, omniscient and Absolutely good?
Yes -- okay, continue.
No -- lose Destined; may be regained by DICE display of Trickery & Obstacle (by anyone).
There is no indication that the timeline here is spoiled. There are trace diesel fumes which hint that the enemy landed here and left by boat, straight-line path east, across the Atlantic, perhaps? Follow Thor Heyerdahl in papyrus reed boat or travel to Egyptian bolt hole and get a true naval craft?
Egypt see that safehouse was used, compromised by someone using the password in German accent. The ocean craft is gone. The next choice is Cosmic Leap (bad) or convert a Felucca into motorcraft using the jeep engine. Convince Cleopatra to aid you? No, she and Anthony are dead in palace. You will stand accused. Commandeer her royal yacht and oar up Nile back to bolt hole. Avoid disrupting timeline and pharaoh’s chariots: Obstacle (gain yacht), Trickery (crews), and Defeat Minions.
Take modifiers ship w/ Egyptian rowers and navigators and cross Atlantic: Each player must roll once and gain an Obstacle STEP or lose Destined Status (for moment). This can be returned at next DICE by obtaining Trickery and Obstacle or sacrificing an NPC Soak-Off (here).
The period seems to have shifted to Ancient America Olmec (5). The local Mayan are mesmerized by a Sony Walkman. They exhausted the batteries playing it. Used-up relic by bad guy. Some of the priests are humming a tune. Charge batteries and hear Manfred Mann's Mighty Quinn. Study Mayan pyramids see pictoglyphs of astronauts, men flying machines. The other stranger had blue eyes and reddish hair. Many of the locals have dyed their heads red as tribute.
Fight to grab a Mayan Glyph, a rubbing off doomsday calandar as a relic Mulligan.
Convince the NPC Soak-Off Maya (Angelou or Rudolph) to join you with Obstacle.
Question Three: Could not an omnipotent creator put everyone and all things in paradise?
Yes -- lose Destined; may be regained by DICE display of Trickery & Obstacle (by anyone).
No -- life is a test, great power has greater responsibility.
(By now only those who haven't already flunked-out are offered the test.)
Trickery STEP to discover the presence of Tachyon Vortex, when two of the same periods appear inside the timeline. We went to wrong Rome. We need to correct time from the first Rome, not the second. Travel to first Rome and from there Slide to the right connection. BAd Guy must have made a similar mistake or was lost as well?!?
Guess where-to next from a list of compromised periods presented: Cold War (72), European Empire (29) or Colonial Independence (51)? Failing to correctly guess will cause loss of Destined Status for one player. This can be returned at next DICE by obtaining Trickery and Obstacle or sacrificing an NPC Soak-Off (here).
Arrive at the death of Stalin, March 5, 1953; the city is in riot and mourning. The citizens want to see the body. Travel to Red Square: Cold War hunt inside the Kremlin. Use Map w/ Bomb=Obstacle, Skull=Trickery, Flag=Minions. Some hazard STEPs are in pairs or trios. Enter along road A or B. Move only by major roads through parades of crying well-wishers. There are three possible places of the body: Church (cross), Armory (x), Household Palace (dots). Only one has the body lying in state. Find Stalin to make the next Jonbar Hinge connection. The ceremonial Red Guard was knocked-out by someone with a very effective right hook, shall we say a strongarm.
Roll Trickery to find a clue -- Gain a relic Mulligan of Cold War by taking the man's fake mustache.
Convince the NPC Soak-Off Georgy Malenkov, Party official in Moscow city to join you (or face Nikita Khrushchev purge) with Obstacle and Trickery.
Question Four of Infinity: Does all-knowing God ignore the existence of evil?
Yes -- lose Destined; may be regained by DICE display of Trickery & Obstacle (by anyone).
No -- Free Will must exist and evil is a choice for mankind.
(By now only those who haven't already flunked-out are offered the test.)
Guess where-to next from a list of compromised periods presented: Agrarian Regression (64), Manifest Destiny (58) or Decay of Priest Kings (11)?
Jump back to Battle of Rosebud. The flag on courthouse upon landing is off, the colors are strange: Still red, white and blue, but the Stars are red on a white background, not white on a blue. Could be a weird battle emblem of 7th cavalry or else history is leaving you a clue.
Roll Obstacle to gain a relic Mulligan of Manifest Destiny that 7th cavalry flag.
Use Map and reach the objective aka Custer's Last Stand at Little Big Horn.
Convince the NPC Sitting Bull to join as Soak-Off with Trickery. Say he'll be back in time for his performance in the Buffalo Bill show.
Question Five and Last: Should graceful God, all loving, inflict harm on innocent?
Yes -- Sure, worms got to eat. Man must suffer to die well In a game). Victory.
No -- Thanks for playing but you are no philosopher or theist. Metatron is not amused.
(If you made it this far--in character--you safeguard your tean to hold Destined in the climax)
Guess where-to next from a list of compromised periods presented: Reformation (47), Fascism vs Communism (70) or Nationalist Wars (65)?
Jump finally to endgame climax, facing Von Richthofen in a match of Fokkers vs Sopwiths Camels in Flying Circus Duel.
Someone must achieve Obstacle to put himself or another in cockpit of a Sopwith Camel. Players might think they then need kill enemy and use a Myrmidon. But in the air the players must achieve a Trickery Step and follow that with the kill to defeat Richthofen in his Fokker triplane. Finally, that first kill is blocked by hitting the relic, Jesse James Pistol. Do that twice (as time allows).
The pistol lands in No Man's Land and must be obtained with Obstacle and Trickery to get out safely. Each turn in No Man's Land brings D6 Minions.
Richthofen received a fatal wound just after 11:00 am on 21 April 1918 while flying over Morlancourt Ridge near the Somme. Debate over who fired the shot that killed Richthofen. Brain damage from the head wound Richthofen suffered in July 1917 played a part in his death. But we all know it was time travel that killed the Ace.
Richthofen was actually killed by an Australian anti-aircraft machine gun.
From here you can recover the Pistol. Victory.
...fini
Back on 15th with Hero ’31.
Yours,
IronRed
