Message:Hey, we really can guess for a clue: Hollowness.
We fought 7HD Spiders in Mirkwood and Mamed Ones in Brown Lands.
Maimed Ones, 4HD, AC4, Turn like Mummy, Immune Sleep and Charm, Flair Paralysis. Maimed Ones are already in decay and do not bleed. The maximum damage any blow to the creature will cause is five points. Hunch on first meeting to Cast Detect Magic to discover a secret. (Yes/no?) They are wrapped in rune scribbled leather. Casting Read Magic on the Maimed Ones will cause them to unravel and allow full damage to impact.
We cast the Read Magic counter just once. All our magic potential, and we only did this once. We had to kill twelve others piecemeal over three fights. I was AC 7 fighting two by myself. Oh, the misery.
We also praised the Weaver three times, not having learned our lesson to spread these Sanctified prayers out. One of the magic items gained was Vestments +5 Hirelings that we had to toss, because all of the party already had Vestments that they were not willing to part with. Kinda sad.
Bojangles lost STR from Maimed Ones paralysis, but all survived the Spider poison. IronDave rolled Boxcars and turned a Maimed One, while IronPax not so much.
The Ring is held by IronPax (34% Corruption) w/ spell Read Languages. He rolled 35% and almost joined the Corrupted.
Both Bojangles and IronSquires are corrupted by the Ring. (Lost Stats and Hirelings.)
We ended the session after passing through the Dungeon of the Brown Lands.
Still to do w/ Maimed Ones ~ After the climax fight, the spell Wizard Lock will bind the ruinous leather into a magic shield of +4 AC. Casting Read Languages on the remains will convert the whole into a random Scroll. Boiling the fibers while protected by Protection Evil will create an Elixir for a random potion. Only one of the three may be attempted.
More next week.
Yours,
IronRed
