Watched this recently, small doses over several days. May have more head-scratching impact in a theater, straight run. I found it delightfully peculiar.
I like Absurdist Theater, but I read in wiki that the author refused to classify the piece and refused further to explain any of the elements. In interviews throughout his life, Beckett gave hints or answered questions. But his answers seem to be just attempts to change the subject or dissuade people from reading too much into the work.
I think LotRings is also subjected to too much allegory. Just leave things as is.
Waiting for Godot (not God as author himself said--if it was God, I would have said God) felt to me like two people trapped in terrible a time loop. They may even meet two other versions of themselves each day (in Pozzo-Lucky, Boy-Unseen Brother). Of course, I enjoy time travel, even when it is not in any way implied.
From Wiki "While inherent meaning might very well exist in the universe, human beings are incapable of finding it due to some form of mental or philosophical limitation."
With that I agree. We are just hairless apes, often wearing Bowler Hats.
