Also interested, but...
Message:I think it's probably a smart move to split the game into a "Player's Book" and a "Referee's Book." Mostly so the players aren't intimidated by a 1500 page Omnibus - ok, that's Cutlass, but we'd discussed before how on other game forums some of us have been all, "Look, if you're a player, you need the first 50 pages, the rest are Referee aids."
I don't mind this particular volume being full of "...and let the Ref worry about that..." sections.
The only reason I don't say consider going a step farther and strip out the Combat Q&D's is for players to have the fun of looking up and reading the results aloud, which is (DUH) easier if each player has his own volume. But think of Red's Era Ten player's book. It's just what the player needs without anything else.
Business wise you can sell a Player's book for a buck or two and go up to 5-10 bucks for the Ref's volume.
But the final dirty secret is I suspect Red's still writing the Ref's tables, and he's given US what we need to know while he finishes his prep!
