Message:Traveling to Sebastea, the encounters were numerous (again).
We battled a sea creature twice before finally slaying it. The first time we switched to fleeing. The second time we killed the monster. Good BBQ. The offspring of the monster was adopted by Fullmoon as a pet. Having a monster as a familiar was good, intimidating.
The monster later grew, a flightless worm twisting on the deck, breaking masts. We had to defeat it using Dragon Underbelly. Sadly, Fullmoon’s pet was put down for the monster it was.
The Saurian priests took offense that we slew their god. We were attacked from the shores and defeated the Sorcerers. Twelve card set of Spellcaster Banes for all involved.
We recovered a treasure that none of us (yet) could unlock. The treasure, the largest yet, will elevate our baronial lands (in the path of the Ice Horde).
Bârsiğ, the former minion of the dead lord Maksim, tried to avenge his master. He was defeated in Subcommander battle. The outcome of that was that all characters gained a Trait. Fierar became Bold and will vow never again to be cowardly. Mumbles became Rugged, and Fullmoon gained Energetic. Victory is in our sight, all five Stones. We just needed the climax.
We went for the book and found the keepers moved the lore to the depths. We passed the trap of Fire, found the secret passage, deciphered the columns of the last battle with Ymir (Gain +1 Quest Pip in endgame later). We passed further traps of sand sinking and electricity and even scything blades. There is always a scything blade.
Then came the Naga. Using a modified Subcommander take, we had to make the NAGA vulnerable with three less cards to do so. Those cards changed, some of which were Success and Shaken, on success! Two make-rolls were eventually used. Three times Flaws were avoided. Tough table. We finally generated the card combo to win. There were some awful card combos avoided along the way. Deck shuffled three times. With small groups you burn quickly through cards.
The book was behind a golden lion that we animated to block the passages behind. The book of the lore updates and showed us where the Wizardry Stone has gotten. A thief took it and is imprisoned in the Lost Citadel.
However, moving the lion aside activated three rooms of gargoyle guardians. We could defeat them all with Calculated-Recitation actions. Or we could flee and lose four Longboat swaggering. Would we gain Prudence by fleeing? Yes. But we also gained that Ignoble by saving the sailors. We defeated the enemy, mostly by Fullmoon’s eighteen abilities in Wizardry. We all did our part. A glorious day of travel and intrigue.
We ended at the Epilog, next week, hunting for the Master Thief that took the Wizardry Stone. The level sevens checked five swagger, legitimately with the intense action.
We continue again on Jan 29th. About two or three more weeks of Outlands, and we start a new campaign of Era Ten, The Troopers recall their Ten Best Jump & Dies.
