Not serious enough to be compelling. Not funny enough to be entertaining. Cloying will not appeal to the fans nor the water cooler (must see or feel left-out) crowd. Take for instance Top Gun. Appeals to the gearheads and those who recall Cruise in better movies.
Casting of D&D seems good (except for evil Hugh Grant chewing scenery). Director not so much.
Everything wants to be Princess Bride w/o any idea of what made that memorable.
Let it Ride, 26% Rotten Tomatoes. Not for everyone, but a perfect day for a goodhearted schlub and those who emphasize. Scene with him praying to god for just one lucky bet is one all gamblers have experienced. Just one bet to get even and I can leave happy. That movie knew its audience. D&D not sure it does, compared with Conan, LotR or Willow (original).
Yours,
IronRed
