That was my first reaction ...

I'm going to ramble on about different things. Pay to watch me.
Really ... I'm just .... going ....to ....................................... ramble o ...........nnnnnnn ..... pay me to watch me.
Is it different than watching television? I guess not.
It does mean the 5e'ers are jumping off the band wagon to compete to replace WOTC. The Bishop is smart enough to keep his hands around 5e so he's good when it comes back.
No one will be able to get into enough gamer's hands to make the difference. 5e is everywhere.
Perhaps he also signaled that "Grim Dark" was over done as well. Everyone went Grim Dark for a while. No one ever goes Torg ... don't go Torg ... it's a mistake.
The key remains helping the Referees make better games ... wait ... where have I heard that?
If the thing he makes in the end is three books with 6 stats and "Armor Thing" with "Points from Hits" it won't change anything. If it's pretty, it might make a few bucks. No crime there.
Index Card RPG is a pretty radical departure from the conventional product. But, you can't mistake it's roots. It is interesting but it's a niche product. No crime there.
If it he does something "different", I'll be gobsmacked.
