I agree advancement needs to have the brakes applied. More time between Level 1 to 2. Level 0 to 1 should be fast but going to Level 2 should take some doing.

This goes in hand with the Anime Style. Level 2 & 3 Characters are still considered pretty buff in Danmachi. If I remember right the strongest character seen so far is Level 7 or 8.

I think you guys have been overlooking the Profit part. To go from Level 0 to 1 a bag of gold might be enough. Level 1 to 2 enough to fill up a vault might do it. Level 3 you need to own some real estate as well as have enough gold to swim in like Scrouge McDuck.
