Decades old news...
Message:Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator goes back to the 1980's. Used to play it on my Atari ST. Oh, it was a wireframe grid-graphic landscape, and units were generic icons, but "build any Army A vs Any Army B" is old simulation hat.
The "shoddy" in the Chuck vs Keanu battle is all in making the Chucks bulletproof. 1 million Chucks in gi pants vs 1 million men with multiple firearms? The guys with the guns win. This video was just pure cute.
Since I kept my ST up till 1997 I DID program in "Battle Born Squads," which had a good amount of firepower. Even had to figure out different ratings for units using gauss vs cycle or direct plasma, as well a cheat the move rules to account for Jet Pack. I used a set of table top role play rules from Blacksburg Tactical Research Center called "GUNS! GUNS! GUNS!" to quantify the EE-suits. The rule set had numbers for railguns, and I decided an EE-suit baked a 25gm gauss round I treated as a slug with a Mach 5 velocity. Gave me a starting number I could use (and compare to example weapons BTRC gave.) since a basic slug did an abrasive, from there I knew the base EE Suit unit could take seven slugs (2 Abrasive, 2 Walking, 2 Vicious, overflow dead), allowing me to assign a damage rating to a trooper. From there I could modify ratings for advanced and elite troopers (Cruz bio-burst, knowing how to ECM, etc). Obviously I was ultimately pulling crap from my ass, but I proceeded logically from a rational starting point... A 25gm gauss slug at Mach 5. Please note as of 1990 experimental railgun fired slugs at Mach 9. Of course the gun would tear itself apart in the test fire, but, for a millennium in the future, a slug about the mass of a .50 cal round at Mach 5 isn't inconceivable.
Let's just say with what I came up with, a 20th century tank battalion had no chance against a basic squad of Battle Born. There's a reason in Battle Born squishies go down in one hit. Go down? Try "fine red mist."
Anything less than a WWII tank can't even scratch the paint on an EE suit.
