Late to the party.
Message:You just now caught up to "Prelude to Axanar?"
The fan film which got CBS/Paramount to crack down on fan filmdom, inspired lawsuits, led to Star Trek New Voyages/Phase II and Star Trek Continues to shut down, caused other fan film franchises to shut down, and put a bunch of restrictions on the rest? (I'm surprised the guy who did the Minyard saga and the team at Farragut haven't been sued, too, because they're both violating CBS/Paramount's "How not to get sued" document)
Prelude is very well done. A little talky, but a good proof of concept. A decade later the actor for the lead antagonist is gone, a couple other actors dropped out, and the full Axanar follow up, now gutted to two 15-minute segments instead of a two - hour movie is FINALLY finishing principle production.
I was actually supposed to be on the VFX team for the full Axanar, but have dropped out because of the move since I didn't know when I'd be able to set up a dedicated work area again (Spoiler! Sure as hell not yet!) I was supposed to do some of the loops for background monitor displays.
I do like Axanar's bridge set. Since the main ship is Ares class, not Constitution, they were able to play a bit. Does pretty well at evoking the general feel of the 60's bridge while incorporating later design elements like Okudagrams, and updating things like the monitors.
