That meant there was all the purchases of the Aunts, Grandmas, and friends were lost to ... whatever ... baby dolls and makeup.

Then, someone figured out that the girls liked to assemble plastic horses.

Eventually, someone figured out if SpiderMan was a girl, the Aunts, Old Maids, etc would buy the dolls, videos, chatchkis, T shirts, shoes, belts, hats, etc. etc. etc. for the ladies.

Then, the owners get to wear gold chains and get precious metal and gem encrusted grills. Mrs T pities the fool.

When the marketeers became more important than the audience, which was inevitable, it would all go flushy flush.

I can't speak to the US comic market but it is fractured. The audience knows they are being played. It seems like there are a lot of choices. The trick is to find the content that interests you.




Now do Aerospace. Finance. Law. Manufacturing. Gubmint. The same rot infects them all. Comics don't matter. Banks do.
