Message:Seems YouTube is claiming Bot traffic is inflating the views of many of the popular sites. I am not "popular" so not a major concern. However, I have to ask if Alphabet is losing money? It would seem that YouTube likes
Content Providers with high view counts. If they know the views are bogus, they could lower the number. But what ABC-Corp instead has done is report the counts total (very high for most popular providers) and instead just refused to monetize the result.
It seems a shell game in this Age of Shoddy. Nevertheless, I'm sure the dreams of many who rant about games will soon be crushed, when what was a few hundred dollars a video (for a few 100K clicks) turns into a few bucks, not even sawbucks, not even Dix (X).
Again not a concern for me. My dreams of stardom never materialized, so I am content having a place to dump product announcements. If that goes away, Space Gamer may have to allow downloads of video content. If that ever occurs, then I may get the band back together and release the golden hits of the eighties.
Real-ID might have changed the web but it's too late now. That and don't get me started on the End of Science, which was predicted by a few 40-years ago and now has a rising chorus of nods. What in the last forty years has science done? All minor piddle and no fundamental breakthroughs. Compare that to a century ago as we moved from religious dogma (ignorance) to concepts of atom, magnetism, evolution and celestial cosmology. Engineers need the equation and method else we still make houses with dead trees and stone hammers. Humans may just be too stupid, turns out, to sustain the upward arc of science. Whole push for STEM has only added more meetings.
Many predicted FTL travel by 1999. Or 2019 in case of Bladerunner replicants fighting in the Rings of Orion. EU built a collider-thing has led to squat. And we are still doomed to be born and later die, even the richest of us.
2001 a Space Shodyssey!
Yet shall we give Thanks for the Giving Day with a drug that might make us eat less (or a natural, finite amount)?
Yours,
IronRed
