Message:Boca or Bust Went on hiatus, we skipped this week (maybe the next) and instead went back to Dungeon Crawl.
Dungeon Four was glorious. The Mysterious Nonhumans (no Foul Blow, damage Gut-Spill) died in droves. We overpowered them so mightily that we nearly cleared a 12 x 12 grid. We even got Grandfather’s Love which means we can safely skip the next three future Dungeons if we must (or desire). We even entered a lair of Undead and killed a dozen Wraiths (four attacks and four immunity). I could complain the treasure was skimpy but all three of us leveled.
With renewed confidence we entered Dungeon Five. It’s a tangle of doors but we have managed to collect a few more gel packs of minty fresh poison antidotes.
We will return to Dungeon Puzzle from time to time as a way of gaming on days when there are just a few of us. The system seems to be Gygax without the time sink. What once a group might complete in a week of after school sessions (forty+ hrs), we can do in a couple hours. Plus the tool (free download) offers an endless supply of adventures.
Our group is near ready to jump to the next stage of encounters, designed for a small party of some Talents. There are eight total Difficulty levels and we are just now ready to try Heat-2. No deaths, but admittedly I thought the Wraiths were too tough to challenge.
Yours,
IronRed
