Somebody has to say it .... regarding the big D&D Scandalzzzz
Message:
So the big noise in the interwebz clickmunities is that the evil, greedy, souless company is planning to migrate D&D to the web so they can make more money and destroy more souls.
Uh, yes.
A company that prints paper earns a hundred million. A company that sells us software earns a billion.
Please refer to "greedy" and "souless" above. Did that change? Because the definition of greedy is to get more scratch. You already knew the answer.
The good news is ... they aren't changing anything. They aren't creative enough and they can't.
You could plan the 50 year old version and it would be fine. I met a dude 40 years ago playing the game with a Ref who had a mimeographed copy of some rules. No books. No tablets. No expansions or other stuff.
The game hasn't changed in at least 20 years. Sure, they added confusing words but ... that's not the game. It never was.
Get your Moldvay or AD&D or whatever. And enjoy.
The celebrities of the D&D world are telling you to express your opinion by not buying the product.
Here's the part that hurts. You are going to buy it. So, just suck it up. (Not the old grog nards but if you read the last one, you are buying this one.) Wait until the price drops in half or whatever on Amazon. You aren't missing anything. But, you want it. It's shiny.
When your back fails you, you will wish you had gone with One Page RPG ... but I can't fix that.
Somethings you have to learn on your own.
Yours,
IronConrad
