Message:Windows Game console was NG, so no video this week.
Busy day, lots done. We also had good dice and friendly cards.
The group with just a few hints solved the Puzzles to open the Smuggler’s Tunnels:
Thieve Cant (answers)
++Not even, not odd. (zero)
++Woman with two daughters and each daughter has a brother (three)
++Psychic knows gambler's winnings before any bets. (zero)
++Five plus Nine (two)
++Four letters loses only one after erasing two. (four)
++Fifteen crows in a field as blunderbuss shoots. What remains? (zero)
++300 ft. snake, crawls at 100 ft. per minute, crosses 200 ft. tunnel (five)
++Herd count when added or multiplied tis the same (two)
We also undertook a quest for the City Hydrologer Beckham to find the source of sinkholes. Turns out the streets of Blue Bayou were being undermined by Metallic limbed Spiders.
With a bit of prompting the group used the Pump they found to spray water on the spiders and reduce the penalty of Weaponry from roll until success to just make one roll. All underworld mobs will have a trick to change the roll until success to one and done.
We survived ambush by spiders, dragged across map, and escaped with some loot, crossing about ten room encounters. I thought we would die (as party) twice.
We also reached the farmlands and found all the farmers are Zombies. This changed the long term goal of Pax of becoming a farmer.
System got deadlier, but did not kill a PC. Rolls were harder, damage was suffered, but we all did survive. A few XP added to all, some new gear purchased but some gear lost along the way.
Fresh Rumors
04: Not sure why we let Ogres like Whitesnake wander on the surface. Sure, it's after dark, but that means we can't stargaze. Not that you see much anymore with the constant clouds.
05: Show flyer of Erik (pict) and announcing his upcoming promotion party. The Legion Lords are the generals of the city. The gryphon is their symbol and that of the rank-and-file garrison.
06: Top of the wall is the Unbridled, men who surrendered their souls and live in a frenzy of animalistic carnage. The volunteers come from the prisons, war captives and insane asylums. All are experiments of the Overlord, Vex.
07: At night you can see fireflies from walls, but these have red, green, blue sheens. The dreams of others can manifest.
08: Someone heard tell from Wine Sot’s midwife, Bladefade, that Clan Chief’s daughter Sia had her second miscarriage. Some say hobgoblins are to blame. Medium Bladefade lost her powers, if she had any to begin with. She spends much of her day meditating near the Great Oak.
09: City Hydrologer Beckham is drunk and keeps repeating "I needed to lose her to love me." When asked who? he says her name was Sia.
10: Sia has three tame Displacer Beasts, so I'd stay clear of her.
11: Talked with a buddy in our town stores, and he says there are only twenty boxes of matches left for coming Winter. Could be something that someone should look into, the corruption. Gimpo suggested we buy-up all the town’s remaining matches. Points to him.
12: Hasn't stopped sprinkling in Rain Edge since the mishap with the Indigo Mindflayers. Janice Jay told me this; she is only one I know who has crossed the walls.
Logistics Established
Tiny Wayne hangs out and does business at Owl & Hawk Inn. Agent of party, the man who finds and sells gear. He will say that the best places to find honest work are along the outer wall. The best places for theft are along the inner wall. He laughs as he sees you are men who crave danger.
Every time you enter the Owl and Hawk, you feel obliged to buy a round of drinks for 1 Sp. This is your last IOU.
Drunk Clan Chief Solitaire will scoff at your poverty. He offers a Gold (XP) to anyone who crosses the wall and brings back flowers from the farms outside the Citystate. We used Smuggler Tunnels to collect this prize.
Flyer announces an upcoming party to celebrate Erik's promotion in legion. Erik once ran with your group. He was older, more of a father figure. Took a fall and scarred his left cheek. Actually, evened-out his face with the forceps mark on his right cheek.
Two people here can be used as BANKS. Tiny will hold any and all extra items for D4 Sp. He will ask why you don’t sell them? Shinedown, the grumbler, will hold one object for a Sp. of food and drink. Bum half-elf may be less reliable, though he gives his word and makes an oath sign with his hand, scouts honor.
Great Oak—Sacred Oak of borough gives acorns which are ground into flour. The tree is dying. Last harvest was abundant, a sign of tree’s distress. If it dies, the clan could starve.
Gypsy Bladefade is praying and taking donations for readings. Woman comes from a strange and distant time. She recently lost her cat. She asks only that the party keep an honest look-out and help return the familiar if the opportunity presents itself. She understands there’s no guarantee but will take great offense if players cut and run from danger that must be faced to rescue her pet.
Ended the day by discovery that Ratcatcher Blyton was injured. We start next week trying to kill a nest of giant rats, finding the true source of these freaks.
We have open quests to destroy the Fire Cult. Met those guys and got burned. Plus, we have yet to recover the Pyramid Scroll for John Cee of Survivor Monastery.
More next week…
Yours,
IronRed
