xGear Quest (15 Dec 24)

Great luck today. Both encounters that aided us solving quest questions and general rolls and rewards.

Day of the Rats
We started on recommendation of John Cee, the Monk of the Survivor’s Monastery, to return to the spider caves below Blue Bayou and collect samples of the Spider’s Legs. These he later fashioned into Good Spears.

Armed not well, we undertook the quest to rid the streets of Giant rats. We found pistachios and knew this was related to the Clan Boss. While heading there to confront him we met the Lost Soul, a person always different but somewhat familiar to us all. The Lost Soul told us the Clan Chief, Solitaire, was not directly involved. But his household was. We would find later his son, Klondike, using in mischief a Dark Magic skull, was making the rats grow. The boy of eight would be stripped of the object (to our party for safekeeping).

We strolled about while destroying five of eight hazards to rid the threat. Good loot and good reward of gear. The trick was to attack the beasts from elevation. We found a ladder and made our Luck roll to determine the strategy. Now that we were not attacking with rolls until success, the encounters were painful but no one died.

Fresh Rumors
13: I have a leaf from Wine Sot's Great Oak. I can command it to grow into a shield. Keeps thieves away when I sleep under it.
14: In my nightmares I see a demon. I have yet to learn or decipher the palindrome of its name.

We have open quests to destroy the Fire Cult, or recover the Pyramid Scroll for John Cee of Survivor Monastery. Locate Gypsy’s familiar (a cat). Talk with Solitaire about his son’s playing with magic; have our silence bought with a new quest in service of the clan.

We still do not know why the citizens of Wine Sot are held captive. Why the place is being starved of basic goods, like matches, why the gate behind the Owl & Hawk was bricked over, why Dough Gate is sealed and rusted…but we know how to get outside St Jon Citystate through the smugglers tunnels.
