Gearbox released a game called BATTLEBORN on May 3, 2016. It was a farce, with high-tech soldiers, set in far future. I tried writing the company, early-on, and told them that any Google of Battle Born produced hundreds of entries to my game. But they just ignored me. Computer game companies kinda shit on the table top games that came before them, even as Gygax created all of their character building rules and terms.
Sure nothing illegal about any of this. Copyrights don't really cover rule booklets, so trademarks are all you can hold (expensive litigation). I just wanted to make sure the computer guys were aware of me and were not going to sue me for infringing their efforts. "How dare you make a game of the same title with same general theme twenty (or thirty) years before us?!?"
Gearbox Battleborn is still top response to a query on Battle Born. That when their game went defunct.
wiki: "In June 2017, it was transitioned to a pricing scheme comparable to a free-to-play title. Gearbox announced a year-long phased shutdown of the game's servers by January 31, 2021, with the game removed from sale in November 2019 and planned shutting down of in-game purchases by February 2020."
But I'm not bitter....
