I want to see it another week. As we advance in XP, the make-rolls tend to be too much. I agree with you desire for agency. The key may be less stingy award of Force Points. We each had one and almost used one at 2:20 to get past last event. Yet we didn't and survived. The break could not have come any later. Rusty had the blessing of saying he had plenty of spare HP, because he had so few items of gear by the end. He held my Fertility Gel.
We faced Monsters, Stormtroopers and Sith Lord. Can't say the cards can get any worse. The escalate that changed all damage from self to others was horrific. If that event occurred an hour earlier, I would have played the Force Point.
Come to think of it...Squires has a once a session Make-roll (legacy) and did not use it. Huh?
Even death (when it comes) can be voided. Our play was not net loss, even with Rusty having to pay about ten Credits to get back to his gear baseline.
Everyday is a chance to change the rulez and survive the rulez.
