For the rules, I COULD use Next Millennium. Now that I have Outlands, can see that my initial hesitation came from my lack of confidence in applying skills to situations - i.e., why does this particular encounter require these two particular skills from a narrative sense? Having a strong sense of the adventure can build that confidence. I REALLY like the way magic functions in the Next Millennium both as a risky stop gap for missing skills and as part of a setting narrative.
I may use the adventure, encounter, and climax tools from Outlands to generate content for Next Millennium...
Or... I've not dug too much into the Fantasy Auto Player that comes in the Next Millennium Omnibus. How defined are the adventures that come out of that system?
