Achilles was special because he had been touched by the gods.

While most simply life the life that was fated to us, he had a choice:

(1) Go and fight and you will surely die but be remembered in history as Achilles the Great of the Myrmidons. (Don't call me Sherly.)

(2) Be forgotten but live a long life.


I believe he was busy choosing #2 when life interceded.

Do the gods ever really care?
