The producers hire people they like (to work with). Instead of people who like the source material.

There are candidates to write and make episodes in the style and flair of original: From Galaxy Quest to Star Trek Continues. Yet that's not what is hired, desired or produced.

Either the tales are no longer written for the original fans or else it is deliberate, a mocking of the character values.

An Age of Shoddy where even borrowed ideas get turned to crud. Watch the originals over and over.

One of the best Sci-Fi writers cannot sell his scripts, because he (allegedly) knocks his girlfriend around. Me, I'd rather have people, like Sean Connery, make movies (made movies). Let the courts (not public opinion) decide the outcome of domestic battery.

If its any consolation, the house is falling down; money is no longer there in piles. A-I will make what you want and change it on the fly with a simple prompt of "Try a different Tact."

You can delight in the hunt for the passable, wading through a sea of regurgitation for the shells that hold pearls.
