I remember enjoying the Two Towers in my younger days. The hobbits held by the Orcs are being run to Isengard while the Dwarf, Elf, and Ranger pursue.

The tale is interweaved with certain touch points like the brooch and slaughter of the orcs by the Riders of Rohan.

And, of course, Sam wears the ring.

It struck me that both Gandalf and Strider must have spent years setting the stage for the events that were to follow. And, it could have all been foiled by a single unplanned moment.
