Message:Four Wounds of Vicious, not just One?
Grievous: Could be considered the base (legacy). It does not hamper the character, but it is the most likely to be received, no substitutions, in battle. This wound recovers between adventures.
Affectation: The wound is more role-play than serious, like a dueling scar or a limp; however, the character must select one Stat as impacted. He rolls twice and takes higher (the worst) for resolution. This wound recovers between adventures, including the penalty.
Old Chestnut: This is a wound from the character's past that did not heal. It is also not a wound that ever heals in these adventures. Once the Old Chestnut is checked (on the character), it will not uncheck. It becomes part of his persona. Some Q&D results (like major Tarot) will inflict the Old Chestnut.
Fated: Forces the player to roll for a Fated outcome. The Fate is often Character's Death within a set of circumstances. The character is still slain by a second Fated wound. However, he ignores a second Grievous, Affectation, and Chestnut. A first wound can be inflicted but not one that would double-up for death. This Fate can rollover into the next river adventure, if not triggered along the river in which it was received. Only once the Fate is completed will the wound be erased from the character's sheet. Worse, Fate unfulfilled will pass to the next character, should this one received two Fated wounds before his destiny.
Yours,
