Message:Was watching a vid (see below) on AI bubble and the subject of how to protect your livelihood came up. One of the panelists said, "Read less, daydream more." His argument is that for very disconnected subjects humans make better connections of value and seeing such pattern leads to innovation. He saw AI as just faster synthesis of what is known.
I googled the quote and the AI told me:
"The search results discuss the potential psychological implications of excessive daydreaming (maladaptive daydreaming) and the extensive reading habits of successful individuals like Warren Buffett, suggesting that the balance between reading and daydreaming is subjective and context-dependent."
So AI is telling me, relax, stay on Facebook, doom scroll your life away. Man, I was hoping for a Norman who would take care of my every need. But instead it sounds like AI wants humans to chill aka Brave New World.
"Be happy, don't think for yourself."
Of course some might argue the opposite that daydream is hippy "Be happy," while reading makes you think. But does it?
