Apollo was grounded for 18 months after mishap. The shuttle was grounded for three years after Challenger, two for Columbia. The changes during all those periods are arguably small.

Going to Mars will kill people. Then, twenty years of lawsuits.

Vanity does not make someone hard, a trait needed for space.
