There are many series that I wish were modeled after Trek. Dilemma and Resolution, repeat.

I liked Z-Nation because it was that formula. There was a grand goal but it was never to be achieved (at least in first few years before they lost focus). Farscape same way.

Shows like Fallout are too much skip about the lingering plots. There were good X-Files, one-shots, and bad ones (rest). Lost was all plot holes and innuendo (stupid). Most of the rest of sci-fi and Fantasy (on TV) is gobble-goo w/ heavy handed life lessons. "Blossom in Space, Facts of Life in Hobbit Hole.)

Trek had villains, not drive to complicate (or stuff each episode w/ memory-berries).

Only over-arching plot that worked was one year of Babylon Five (war), ruined by next year.
