Message:It was a tester of the original game. He said he needed the money. Was surprised it went for $3000 to the owner of Mayfair Games. There was an article on this. Happened at GenCon? Though just a recollection. Seller said his son hated him for doing so. It was many times used in play. Yet first time all the rare cards were together in one deck. This was back when people actually played for a Draw (risk loss). Seller said he would try to collect them all again.
Was the start of the mania and collapse of Pen & Pencil hobby. Video Games would finish the rest. Lots of vanity, pretty concepts, but truly the innovation died w/ mature audience shifting (even briefly, a decade) to card games.
That said. If the owner had held them -- $3 million Alpha Black Lotus, a $150,000 sealed Unlimited Starter Deck, and a $2.2 million collection all listed on eBay.
