Message:Reminder (here) we are taking next week off.
Our last mission failed, but we survived the Epilog. I lost my Galley, the Swan. Much ado. Our previous patron Al Fonse hated our poor performance. Sad. We had no IronGreg to take the blame, so his kin IronSquires had to step-up.
The group entered the next quest for Ricard. He came back to say our previous Patron, Al Fonse, is held captive by the Ironmonger Maurice. But both Ricard and Al Fonse are our enemies? Yes, Ricard wants us to rescue Al Fonse, so he can sell the Moneylender for even more money. Such dastards!
Our new rival is John Calvin, a Reformist and the plot has future intrigue in the Papacy. On a point of personal note, I have tried many times to have a Cutlass campaign skew Reformation, only to fail and have it move Exploration.
The two Ace in the Holes were mitigated. But the problems w/ Motive (grand scheme, penalty -2 IronSnake), Finances (no rewards nor R&I at end) and Twist were not. The Twist being two Ace-in the Hole penalties.
We moved from Phase A to B in the same event (Lovers), and escaped a Sea Battle. Later the same ship arrived damaged and we captured it. But the Jolly Umlauts were shattered in war, losing 90%, only later to be restored to near half it’s company muster. We are at 34 able and several hundred as baggage infirmary.
We made it to climax and finished a preliminary Physical obstacle w/ Skill Test and Bloody Reckless and Gaming. Flairs and bad dice made these single cards become multiples. IronRed used make-rolls for Swagger and has yet to be wounded. IronDave made damn-near every roll he attempted, as the rest of us saw ups and downs, with bad dice at bad times. Such is Cutlass. No whinging.
We continue the climax in two weeks with a Rival Forces on Boat, where Al Fonse is held. And Secondary Event related to the Counter-Reformation by the Church.
IronSquires died in his card for Gamingly? True, so sadly true. We weep his loss and spotty microphone connection.
==Reminder to Ref, New Session Rule==
We are not playing w/ Alt characters. Yet when anyone takes the first vicious wound, the player may opt-out of checking Ignobles and gain plot armor to not take a second vicious (except in case of rare card combo or Digressions). The player still takes actions and may gain Swagger or Skill from Personal Event but may not check Ignobles until the adventure concludes.
Yours,
IronRed
