Message:I think we will try the use Make-Rolls everywhere, anywhere (even Epilog, even Climax and Mission Generation, totally as desired). Plus the Make-Rolls will drop at level four and level seven, back to zero (not one). Swashbuckler is a one per mission Make-Roll user. That rank has almost all rolls at advantage and gets three dice attempts! PC doesn't really need them there. It's why I typically end the campaign as meaningless enterprise.
I also like the cash unused Make-Rolls or roll them over to gain half the number leftover, not used into next mission. A lucky player might be rolling over large amounts.
As for the game being rough--Red is mean--I can only say it's part of the charm. There are truly a large number of "Take Wound" regardless in the game. I tried adding soak-offs at time, the minion who would rather die for you. But it never felt authentic in Cutlass.
What game, has the restriction, caveat that no one may check Ignoble if anyone uses Make-Roll. Is that Outlands?
All the limits were simply to keep peril. Peril is good. Digressions are bad.
I wonder if Culling of Swaggering could also be connected to Make-Rolls. Maybe higher level characters can have a list:
Upon Second Vicious -- instead of dying, choice:
A. Lose all remaining Make-rolls.
B. Lose a swaggering.
Death Digression was designed (added) to ensure no character dies.
