Message:Our friend Fredrico, Aragon Bishop, sent his mistress to give us a task. Kill Ricard, the head of the French Horse Guards. We were successful. Ace in Phase A was nice.
The Jolly Umlauts grew to over three hundred and ended the mission at 284, following a gambling-brawl with impressed refugees in the warzone of Savoy. We won Infantry vs Infantry, even as we disobeyed orders to withdraw.
IronTony lost two characters this day. All the injury was the result of other player's card flips. Given a choice of Field battle or everyone suffers a card of Bloody Reckless, the choice was reckless. Three vicious resulted, two on other helpless (low level) players.
In the climax we assaulted a new style redoubt. We made our Exploit and Diversion but failed to Overwhelm. Yet we had the option to attack and reduce the Siege Limit of eight. We brought it to a value of six, when IronDave, the hero of last week, once again generated a set of card events to take him into the very heart of the enemy fortress, to duel the Rival, Ricard. He captured the man in forced Irregular actions. Given a choice to accept a bribe, ask for ransom, turn the tables on our own Patron, IronDave used Uncontested Dagger Thrust and ended the rogue's life. We made it home in the Epilog. Fredrico our patron was pleased.
One new style of battle, we advanced across in Ship to Ship w/ choice to take either safer Mop-Up (a pass) or suffer half D8 DefMod with Boarding Action cards. IronTony lost his second man by abandoning Mop-Up, as he started, and trying to reach the commander. He died as the rest won. We carved up the enemy galleass from Naples for parts, bringing the Sea Dagger into positive Traits. The Umlauts still have much to be improved.
Mission eight starts next week w/ IronRed as principal character.
Yours,
IronRed
