Message:Jolly Umlauts went from muster 196 to 121 in count but were improved slightly in quality. IronDave was unhorsed. IronConrad eventually led the win, after coming back from disorder and near collapse.
A few new tables. We captured a Galleon w/ regular Cross Ships, Traverse and Engage, but also added two Assail, Carnage and three Mop-Ups. We later rallied the Umlauts from disaster by IronPax action (make-roll).
The side trip to capture the treasure of the map, involved a Hermit (out of Treasure Isle) with this fellow firing cannon down on us from the hills as we traversed broken terrain, suffered equipment failures and had an accidental gun discharge to overall wound two players (missed rolls of mere Ordinary five?) That and we had to Rally the Umlauts yet again, through several destructive cards at double casualties all round.
The climax over ownership of the Scalpel of St Paul was decided on three factors.
The Greeks agreed to return the relic to Fredrico—a man in-line to becoming the next Pope—on condition that we support the defenses of Constantinople vs the Ottoman Turk. IronDave was absent from the walls that evening, as we discovered he led a small force out and killed the opposing commander of the enemy breastworks. Defend Walls x2 w/ IronRed making the second success.
The Reformists would agree to let us keep the Scalpel if they could return the relic as a found gift miracle (at meeting in France). We had to get the reformist leader, Calvin, to trust us w/ majority success of Court cards. IronDave tried to riot the pilgrim monks to our cause, a rare fail. But overall we checked off that obstacle. IronRed offered to torture IronPax (low fates) to prove our integrity (shite cards, but rolls made).
Mughal would give-up his claim to the Scalpel if we kidnapped the Smith of Damascus, currently in Greece, have him make a copy, a dagger to place back in the hand of Vishnu. We underwent four Q&D of the Evading Capture. First three—Nobles of Status, Political Resources and Wealth—avoiding DefMod, to reach Escaping Murderous Vengeance and the vicious wounds or capture.
All done we started home in Epilog.
