As I was wondering about, I resolved a mystery (well it was a mystery to me).
Apparently
King Death Monster was the final iteration of a game in an area (realm) known as "Kingdom Death" and it was specifically the part which was the "Monsters".
As opposed to something like "Kingdom Death: Farms".
After a bit of digging about, it's a game where you are playing a tribe at the dawn of history and fighting "Monsters" and then building your tribe.
(I found some videos if interested.)
But, the battle with the creatures are brutal. Humorously so.
You get crushed and while you maim and damage the monsters, they rip dey ass.
If you look at the rules, it's clearly biased to the Monsters. For example, if you crit the Lion's foot, it just makes him madder. If he crit's your foot, you have no foot.
Then, you make a few village decisions and then fight another monster.
The creator included nice models (as opposed to miniatures).
I see at least one game in the mold of that but this one has heroic figures:

(Aygor: Demon's Hollow)
Truth be told, I find the getting beat down version more amusing. (Like a game of AOE gone bad.)
