Does one win by losing or win by not playing the game? I can never remember which.
About a year ago, I got on the scent of this new "Really Really Great (tm)" King Arthur retelling on the BBC.
It is called "The Winter King".
Who doesn't enjoy a good retelling of the old myths. "One Land One King.".
I found it on Prime but it was a "enjoy the first episode for free" deal and then one had to subscribe to Brit Box. I was too busy for such nonsense at the time.
But, I was tempted.
By chance, a year or so later, it's on Prime ... at least the first season.
Well ... it's terrible as you might expect. It's a bold new retelling in the historical pagan tradition. Which means DEI crystal twaddle.
As best I can tell Arthur is a bastard and he has to go protect the wall while all the other fancy kings fight over a chair. Wait ... that's not it.
Oh Arthur is a bastard as they often state, he was banished, they are squabbling over mud huts.
MERLIN .... Zaaaa Zaaaa Zooom!!!!.
The main character is a dude named Oafish Clod ... or something.
You'll watch it or not at your whim. It was dumb.
The only thing that is memorable is the actress that plays Nimue, the Lady of the Lake, is druid Merlin's side kick druid played by a woman who has more freckles than I've seen on an actress. She's a girl boss of course and karen through and through. But, has a lot of freckles.
The actors, character, story, clothing, lighting, production, sound, graphics, special effects were all forgettable but there's a lot of freckles.
Maybe those people who said it was "Really Really Great (tm)" weren't be entirely honest.
Yours,
