Message:Did an internet search on the best ten Trek episodes. Few are Kirk. Everyone tends to like Tribbles and City on the Edge of Forever, but the rest seem forgotten like classic sc-fi of the fifties.
I can recall an afternoon where one episode of Trek (three principals and Guest Stars) was left on all afternoon, over and over, and each viewing was amazing.
Next Generation is seen as the fawning nostalgia. Of those I can recall two I thought were outstanding: Data defends his right to be called alive. Data creates a daughter that slowly dies over episode. She has emotions; he doesn't. Very sad. Other series in total I do not recall much except each had formula of one main story and two minor events. Writers turned the characters into a cabbage machine of slaw plots. The classic ones seemed like each writer was doing his best to make something memorable and outstanding. Rush of last minute pages probably added to the tension and resolution.
Why resurrect Spock, except to lead to some nice movies.
Yours,
IronRed
