Message:The ships on the link would have been great in a different age. My figures would always get busted masts. Be nice to have a set forty years ago, but not today.
So much more easier to just add figures to a virtual table and not worry about the paint getting smeared or pieces knocked over by the dice.
What I'd like to see is an easy age of sail simulator. One that does not take ten hours to play. One that has real-time interactive choices that don't require forty sliders and clicks, watching the wind and more complication than actual sailing.
Total War Empires has a Sailing Ship game inside the game but it's too easy to cheat the AI by hugging the map edges. The options are also sort of wrong. You basically click on your ship and click on enemy; then you get told later you won or lost. You can intervene but to do so will just get your ships sunk changing targets or ball shot type. The vessels surrender pretty quick. Though that may be realism, it isn't fun.
Oh, and it shoudl be multiplayer. But AAA coders are looking for new ways to add flipping elves and 3D blood splatter. FPS never needed to come to a fantasy game, except they sell.
