Message:I was bum rushing the Romans when the other Assyrian player hit me.
It was serious good fun. They even built a wonder on me that I had to destroy. I intentionally held off on mine to see if I could beat them straight up. I could not beat the last guy fast enough. I won on relics.
The Assyrians are great at bum rushing but their ships and priests are sub-optimal at Iron. So, it's a little extra work to finish them off. I still love the moment when their farmers come out in a line to be slaughtered. The music is a bit sad as another great civilization is put to the sword. You have been judged and found wanting. My Crom take your soul.
Be sure to change the number to 50 Units rather than 250 units. It looks like it can handle the computing but that's a big difference for how many the machine builds.
Remember you can speed up / slow down the speed of the game. It may be set slower or faster.
After 4 or 5 plays, my time has considerably sped up. I bum rush to put my neighbors off so my time to Iron is delayed by that. The AI definitely gets confused when you upset it's plan. In the default configuration, the resources will get consumed if one does not stop your neighbor from using them up. It gets confused by walls as well. Once it finds a place to land, it comes back to the same place.
It did not seem to let you see the map at the end of the game as it used to do ... or I just don't understand the interface. That was good for a postmortem to see what you did right or wrong.
For the new guys, we might want to reveal the map ... I remember it helped a lot since you didn't have to spend time determining the layout.
Still great fun after so many years.
Yours,
IronConrad
