Message:I like playing on Highland map; it's a maze and can be bricked up. I also enjoy Inland AI one on one to try and guess what corner the other guy holds.
Seems like the resources in the game are high compared to original. Probably to support the 250 unit default. That is just insane. Never once saw dual Berries patches, now very frequent.
Fifty unit with just a couple piles of gold makes the game interesting. Since the game changed the Assyrian and Yamota to +10% pleb speed, down from +30%, there is no early rush. Sure you could try 500 worth of clubmen or archers but it seems best to just go for Iron with all the abundance of gold. I recall some games in 1990s where I never found gold before AI hit me with chariots. I also once for fun cut every tree. It was not 100000+ wood either. I agree, AI calling it quits and no letting you explore endgame as it tires is bad for learning curve.
It's not the game it was; looks pretty but has become a make Towers next to Gold piles resource game more than what I recall.
I will mess with starting resources to see what seems more authentic. The first Star Craft I played online took fourteen hours no break before me and the other guy just called it quits. He pounced on me, I nuked him, we seesawed forever on too much Crystal and Green.
Never again. Miss being able to sacrifice and make Bronze by 12 minutes. Now the AI is only a minute behind so Early Rush is meaningless, that and towers cut bow down. Need a few cats to get things going versus AI. Too much stone in game.
Yours,
IronRed
