Started the beta test of Gargoyles of Nam.
Code 943, issued by Earle Wheeler, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Then in encounters the US government disowned the squad as renegades.
Stopped an Assassination with Firefight by Boris Ivan, a known agent. We were told to go to the Mekong and pick up a prisoner take the fellow to Da Hang. He’s a prof.
Tested encounters in most regions. Mike was scapegoat most of the adventure. Rusty at first vouched for him, then recanted. Tony and Tasha quickly cast Doubt on party (and Mike). Mike eventually shed his dubious honor of low fates and Rusty ended up with the label.
Attacked by Chinthe, lion-sized and reptile scaled. Found out the Main monster does not insult Sound.
Collected the prisoner from POW camp. Moved him to Da Nang. Events along way wounded three players but the Divine Instruments kept coming. Sgt Rock comic was sued and returned. I ended up losing seven of my starting twenty Accoutrement. Several of us were Hysterical at one time or another.
Sighted Boris Ivan on horseback, he lives. The monster also impersonates party members and innocents, but those features will not influence the climax to come.
Briefed by Agent Jon Wiant; he is ordering various items from Sears catalog to be offered as bribes to locals for information. He eats a bacon sandwich as he talks. “Take prisoner to Tchepone, Laos. Make the swap and return for a debrief at CIA covert base, USS Implicit (AM-455), a minesweeper in the port at Chu Lai. Any questions save them for Chu Lai.” You know the Agent Wiant from past dealings. He’s half-ass about finishing jobs but loyal to the anti-demon cause. “Oh, we got word on a couple of Chinthe, you know the lion lizards. Anyway, one was slain by artillery fire; the other escape with wounds. Good luck with that.”
Made prisoner exchange in Hanoi. Delivered the prisoner and received a golden coffer, heavy, about eighty pounds. Inside was a metallic sphere, some attached bricks of C4, writing in Cantonese (Task rolls) on the side describes the activation of something referred to as a micro-nuke. Scapegoat Rusty now carries the thing.
Prof we transported announced he was an ally and needed to stay with the Golden Box. Trường Chinh yelled back at the players, quite alarmed when he saw the coffer. “By all that is holy, I am a follower of Cotton Mather.” He makes a modified sign of the cross showing to all squad members that he is a Rosecrucian or from an offshoot order of demon hunters. The group fired grenades all over an airfield and eventually rescued the man to come along (as soak-off).
Last event was on the Shores South China Sea. The squad reached the CIA covert base on a Minesweeper in port at Chu Lai.
From there the adventure continues. More than enough clue-points to know the Main Demon and the location of the climax. We also know the demons are trying to start another land war in Korea.
Part two next week
