Message:Negative mass would possess some strange properties, such as accelerating in the direction opposite of applied force. A hypothetical particle with complex rest mass would always travel faster than the speed of light. Such particles are called tachyons. There is no confirmed existence of tachyons.
Much of this derives from the mathematics. In Roman times we had no concept of negative numbers. Now we can think upon all sorts of odd interaction caused by taking a physical law and breaking it with imaginary numbers.
For anyone who says imaginary means unreal, I have to say that the power you use is based pretty much on exploiting the square root of neg-one.
If they can make it in pill form, would be a great diet aid. Lose ten pounds by swallowing a neg ten tablet. But would you accelerate away from gravity? The price we pay to look good.
