No shade to Mentzer; he was right. Original game was good for the period but was very OSR.
The 1989 edition of Cutlass introduced Ignobles, the Tarot flip card and broad action Q&D, plus all the Ref rulez (thanks Conrad) including Digression tables, truly all innovations to role-play game mechanics. Cutlass is the pick-up and game rpg, which inspired many others, as we continue to evolve how we play at Better Games.
BTW Just got roof replaced and good for another thirty+ (Va Tech Engineer, content in retirement.)
