The Last Kingdom ... Netflix .... A fair distraction

The Last Kingdom is a tale of a young boy betrayed by his Uncle and lost into enslavement with the Danes in Saxony. He impresses his Dane Master who takes him as his son.
Killing, Killing, more Killing, escaping, Pagans and Christians rap battle against each other over who has the better influencers ... more killing ... blah blah blah.
The first two seasons were on BBC and a tad bit more accurate (but just a bit). The armor was grubbier.
The second to fifth season was picked up by Netflix and has more T&A and swooshy "Game of Thrones" type battles. It has the normal Hollywood Bullshit-isms but what doesn't.
The characters take a little more attention to differentiate as everyone's name starts with Aethel something. Except for the main dude who for convenience I'll add the Aethel prefix ... AethulUhtred.
The magic is more vague. AethelRagnar the brother can't go to Valhalla unless the bad guy who killed him his killed with a sword with his blood on it. AethelUhtred is cursed and can't break the curse unless he kills the person who cursed him without blood.
The magic works if you believe.
There are some interesting moments as they fight over the teeth of Saint Cuthbert ... it's as good a reason as any other.
It's worth putting it in the rotation. It's no Beast Master ... but .. then ... what is?
Yours,
