The block we lived on in Cali had no kids. Pre-Covid Laura and/or I worked several years in a row on Halloween. This year, our block has lots of kids! Our next door neighbors ran to the store for us and them when we ran out of candy.
I zombied up and terrified the kids (and some parents) with dead eyes and dangling entrails before giving out candy. A random teenager playing a dead-on Mike Myers and I randomly teamed up and chased screaming children down the street.
The pumpkin snickerdoodles Laura was baking came out great as well! (And I hate pumpkin, so this is well earned praise.)
Good times. Best Halloween in almost a decade.
If'n anyone wants to see how a cheap-ass expenditure of about $40 and some time scares the kiddies, here's an image link. Means next year's budget can be zero... By next year we should be elsewhere on the island, so it'll be new terror to the locals.
