Message:We play in two and half hour sessions, roughly. Roll20 and Skype for voice. Don't worry about rule expertise or whether you get someone else killed by neglect. It's all fine. You'll think you're lost, but we all are (well not me).
If you want to jump in and see current campaign Chronicles of the Outlands (fantasy, kinda Viking) being played, send me an email.

(Should work; if you don't hear back from me in a day, post here that link seems down.)
Or if that time does not work, Sundays noon, send me a time you have open. Maybe I can jump online and run you through a couple hours of the mechanics in the genre of your choice. Give you an idea. But truly, there's no gospel way to play right or wrong. My memory is going so I ad hoc as need arises. PDf is default and not bets way to scan rulesets.
No promises (of course). I could be dead any day. Just saying. Hopefully I'm not but it happens.
FTL looks interesting; added to my wishlist for later look. For a poor man's tabletop game of the same style try

Look in the Discussions there for videos of play. I had a blast playtesting that one. Hopefully you can hear it in my voice on the demo.
